Summer is almost here and I can FEEL it…May in Michigan brings so much warmth and positivity. My mom is one of my favorite people in life, so I spent Mother’s Day with her treating her like a queen with all her favorite things…a nice meal and flower shopping trip for her garden! I also sold a house this month - so lot’s to celebrate!

This month I continue my Favorite Thing Series and share all new places that you should explore around metro Detroit, including my new fave Netlix show and other random things that I think you should know to live life to the fullest. ;)

Here are this month’s 5 Favorite Things!

1. TO DO: Workout at The Lean Body Studio

My favorite local workout studio is offering small group, in-studio classes again and I couldn’t be more excited! If you haven’t tried LBS Studio before, they offer small, personalized group classes (with virtual and private 1:1 options) that include both cardio and strength training moves! Each class is circuit/interval-based that you will complete with a partner! All of our newbies are partnered with either an LBS Trainer OR one of our seasoned veterans! I can tell you from personal experience that you will NEVER feel lost and your body will thank you, too.

2. TO WATCH: StartUp on Netflix

Do you know a friend or family member involved in the cryptocurrency market, but no clue where to begin? Ease your way into learning by watching StartUp on Netflix! It first aired in 2016, but is hitting the charts on Netflix hard this month in the Top 5 shows to watch. I just started the series and can assure you it’s not all numbers and crypto talk…I’ve enjoyed watching this perspective and am curious to hear what you guys think! Overall it’s just a great show to relax with during the workweek.

MOCAD continues to be one of my favorite weekend spots to visit for inspiration in Detroit. Founded in 2006, MOCAD was a pioneer in Midtown —repurposing an abandoned warehouse, building up the neighborhood, and adding much-needed programming and space into the community. They just launched their May/Summer Exhibitions and I can’t wait to check them out in person.

4. TO GO: Saturday Flea Market at Detroit Shipping Company

May 22nd, come out to Detroit Shipping Company for an afternoon of food, drinks and outdoor shopping! There will be food and drink vendors along with local clothing boutiques, floral stores, skin care and fresh juices from local companies. I love strolling events like this and can’t wait for more events to pop up like this. I plan to go Saturday, May 22-so let me know if I’ll see you there!

5. TO EAT: Cacao Tree in Royal Oak

As a new Royal Oak resident and smoothie lover, one of my favorite places in my new neighborhood is Cacao Tree! I’ve loved it for years and am so happy to live within walking distance of it now. It’s my go-to for smoothies, snacks, or lunch and I highly recommend the Bee Green smoothie. I can never make smoothies as good as they do at home, so it’s frequently in my out-to-eat rotation. Message me if you ever want to meet up for a smoothie and we can stroll through town together!

I hope these ideas inspire you to get out and explore this month and don’t forget to let me know if you do my DMing me on Instagram or shoot me an e-mail.
